Ransomware Rampage Hit 150 Countries, 200,000 Computers Were Shut Down

Cyber criminals are becoming much more sophisticated and can execute attacks on a scale that was beyond them in the past. Their creation, WannaCry Ransomware, shut down global computers in 150 countries within day. The recent attacks were meant to target government agencies, private businesses, and corporations. 

A statement from Microsoft president and chief legal officer Brad Smith on Sunday criticised the way governments store up information about security flaws in computer systems. “We have seen vulnerabilities stored by the CIA show up on WikiLeaks, and now this vulnerability stolen from the NSA has affected customers around the world,” he wrote.
